Connecting Ecosystems. Accelerating AI.

Who we are

New Nordics AI is a joint effort between the Nordic-Baltic countries. It is an independent AI center, anchored in national partners with strong positions and deep roots in their respective AI ecosystems. By connecting these ecosystems, we create the structures for collaboration that allow the Nordic-Baltic region to act together where it matters the most.

Anchored nationally and acting regionally, we combine national insights with a broader regional perspective to create new knowledge, remove barriers, act on regional opportunities and build strategic partnerships across countries and sectors. Through this role we also provide direction, initiate joint efforts, and amplify the region’s voice in shaping the future of AI adoption and development. In this way we deliver impact that no single nation could achieve alone.

What we do

We connect organizations, companies, governments, decision-makers, and people across the region. We structure collaboration, facilitate knowledge sharing and catalyze cross-regional projects to accelerate AI adoption and development in ways that strengthen competitiveness and benefit everyone living in the Nordic-Baltic region.

By bringing ecosystems together, developing new knowledge and ways of working, and creating space for new partnerships and bold ideas, we turn ambition into action across borders.

Why we do it

In a time of geopolitical uncertainty, declining productivity in Europe and looming societal challenges, the Nordic-Baltic region offers something rare: stability, trust, strong digital infrastructure and a shared drive to use technology for progress.

Each of our countries is small on the global stage, but together we are large enough to matter and agile enough to lead in competitive and responsible AI adoption and development. By combining and scaling our complementary national strengths, we can achieve far more than any nation could alone.

New Nordics AI exists to harness this collective strength: amplifying what already works, connecting and coordinating across borders, and ensuring that our societies, economies, businesses, and people thrive while shaping the future of AI on the values we share.

FAQ

What is New Nordics AI?

New Nordics AI is a Nordic-Baltic center for applied AI that connects organizations, companies, governments, and individuals across the region to accelerate AI adoption and development. Anchored in strong national AI ecosystems, we combine local insight with regional perspective to generate new knowledge, remove barriers, and build partnerships across borders and sectors. By linking national efforts through a shared platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and bold ideas, we create impact that no single nation could achieve alone.

Why a Nordic center - and why now?

In a time of geopolitical uncertainty, slowing productivity in Europe, and growing societal challenges, the Nordic-Baltic region stands out for its stability, trust, advanced digital infrastructure, and shared commitment to using technology for progress. While each country is small, together we have the scale and complementary national strengths to deliver disproportionate value. New Nordics AI brings these strengths together to accelerate AI adoption, drive innovation, and position the region as a leading voice in the future of AI.

Who is the center for?

NNAI serves the companies, public organizations, and policymakers driving AI adoption in the region. We enable collaboration across borders, help scale proven solutions, and equip decision-makers with foresight and knowledge to guide national strategies and strengthen the region’s voice in shaping the future of AI.

How is the center funded?

The center is enabled by the Nordic Council of Ministers and supported by a growing number of public and private partners across the region, including Google, Microsoft, and Nordic Innovation.

What is the role of the founding partners?

The founding partners each contributes unique expertise, infrastructure, and a proven ability to drive collaboration in the field of AI, enabling us to connect national ecosystems, share knowledge, scale what works, and act jointly where collaboration creates the most value.

What types of projects does NNAI do?

We initiate and support cross-border projects that turn shared challenges into opportunities. Our work ranges from launching new initiatives to structuring knowledge sharing and developing insights that strengthen AI adoption and innovation. All projects involve partners from multiple countries and aim to create tangible impact across the region.

How are projects funded?

Projects are typically co-funded through a mix of public and private contributions, funding from Nordic or European programs, and in-kind support from participating organizations. NNAI helps identify and coordinate funding sources that make cross-border collaboration possible.

When should I reach out to NNAI vs. my national hub?

Contact your national AI hub to participate in national initiatives, local partnerships, and specific activities. Reach out to New Nordics AI if you have ideas, initiatives, or resources that could contribute to, or benefit from, broader Nordic-Baltic collaboration.

How can my organization get involved?

Organizations can engage in several ways - by collaborating with their national AI hub through our founding partners or by connecting directly with the centre. Whether through national hubs or directly with NNAI, we help organisations find the right partners and opportunities to create meaningful regional impact.
